How to verify a vehicle with SPH plates
- Open the Sindh Excise vehicle verification page.
- Enter the registration number without spaces, for example BCD123 or ANL432.
- Match the owner, model year, engine and chassis numbers with the vehicle documents.
- Unpaid years of motor vehicle tax show as arrears on the same record.
Before buying, check that the engine and chassis numbers in the Excise record match the numbers stamped on the vehicle, and that the token is paid up to 2026-27. Unpaid tokens usually have to be cleared before a transfer goes through.

Transferring SPH vehicles: what the new owner pays
For a three-year-old 1300cc car (example price Rs 5,000,000), a filer pays about Rs 7,250 in 2026-27 and a non-filer Rs 17,750.

How Sindh numbers its plates
Karachi used one and two-letter series with four digits (AA, AB, AC) before moving to three-letter series from AAA in 1996. Sindh Excise currently lists private-car series up to BNS, commercial K and J series, government GP and GS series and police SP series. Plates are yellow with black letters and now carry an Ajrak border. A notification of 13 February 2026 moves Sindh to CNIC-linked numbers with no district letters.
